Based in Palo Alto, Calif., Topix LLC is a privately held company with investment from Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), The McClatchy Company (NYSE: MNI) and Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB).
The local newspapers: Gazette is owned by Freedom Communications; Observer is owned by McClatchy; the BannerNews is owned by Republic Newspapers, a privately owned company based out of Kings Mountain.
