Gaston Christian 3, Spartanburg Day 2 — Brandon Hammond scored two goals and Jimmy Kelly scored one goal while Chandler Patterson and Andrew Spenser had assists in the win. Gaston Christian (3-3) hosts Covenant Classical Thursday.

Ashbrook 4, Kings Mountain 1 (Monday) — Jerad Kiser posted his fifth goal of the year against the Mountaineers Monday night. Ray Lupse, Steven Valencia, and Matthew Conner scored for the Green Wave while Paul Philavong scored the Mountaineers’ lone goal.

College Soccer

Belmont Abbey women 3, Mars Hill 1 — At Belmont, Belmont Abbey sophomore forward Celene Molera scored two goals and assisted on another as the Crusaders scored three unanswered goals to improve to 2-0 on the year with a 3-1 win over Mars Hill Tuesday.

Mars Hill (1-2) scored the first goal of the match early when Caity Murnahan fired the first of two Mars Hill corner kicks directly to Riley Dorsey, who headed home the winner into the left corner of the net for an early 1-0 lead.

The advantage was short lived, as sophomore midfielder Laurie Jordan knotted the match at one two minutes later. The score remained tied through the end of the first half, but Molera struck the winning goal just 9:46 into the second half. Two minutes later, Molera put the game away for good with a score from 12 yards out.

Belmont Abbey travels to Columbus, Ga. to participate in a tournament hosted by Columbus State. The Abbey will face the University of Tampa Friday at 5 p.m.
