The North Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Poll has picked South Point as one of the top 5 soccer teams for the week just completed. The poll is conducted by Eurosport scoreboard and the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association.

On tap this week are two home matches at Lineberger Stadium, Tuesday, September 4 against the Mustangs of East Lincoln; Wednesday, September 5,  against 8th ranked 2-A  Lions of Shelby HS.

There will be JV matches both evenings beginning at 5:30 PM, and Varsity matches kick off about 7:10 PM.

Ya’ll come out and support the hometown boys. This will the first outings for the South Point JV squad. Several promising freshman from Cramerton and Belmont Middle Schools have made the high school transition and should fare well this season.

In a related story this weekend, the Charlotte Observer is reporting that the Raiders are focused on their goals for the season. There is an excitement in the air around this team similar to the football team’s 2003 dream season. Tri-captains, Will Harbin, Aaron Pegues, and Matt Crane have played together as a unit for about 6 years now, along with 13 other seniors on this squad.

It should be an interesting season. The Big South Conference is as tough a conference in the state as most metropolitan conferences, with as many as 6 teams looking to earn state playoff slots in November.

Entry filed under: Belmont, Community, Cramerton, Front Porch, HS Soccer, HS Sports, Life, NC High School Soccer, NC Soccer Coaches Association, NC Soccer Forum, NCHSAA, NCSCA, School, Small Town, Soccer, South Point, South Point HS, Sports, Youth Sports.
