Belmont Abbey scored four goals in the final 30 minutes of the match to hand Lander its first loss of the season, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Lindsey Palm, Celena Molera, Amanda Maddock and Kelsey Lovell scored off assists from Stephanie Leotti (two), Erin Kolb and Hunter Huss product LaKesha Bell for 3-3 Belmont Abbey. Lander outshot the Crusaders 13-12 and had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Anna Donaldson had eight saves in goal for Belmont Abbey.*Abbey men 1, Georgia Southwestern 0 OT — Belmont Abbey junior midfielder Christian Ocampo scored the golden goal, firing home his first goal of the year in the 99th minute off of an assist from Nana Ageyman, as the Abbey earned a 1-0 win at Georgia Southwestern this afternoon. The Crusaders improve to 4-2-0 on the year.

*At Spartanburg, S.C., sophomore Patrick Boerjes led the Crusaders as the school finished 12 ahead of 17 teams in the Eye Opener Invitational at USC Upstate. Boerjes led Abbey runners with a 30th place finish, completing the eight kilometer race with a time of 28 minutes, 18 seconds. Brandon Roth (30:26, 59th) and Joe Lanser, (31:16, 66th) rounded out the Abbey’s top 3 runners. The Crusaders compete Sept. 15 in the Winthrop Invitational.
*Sophomore Emily Boggs (22:29) and the Abbey women finished 18th of 22 teams in the 5 K race at the same meet. Nadine Ntumba (22:51, 77th) and Katie Kisbey-Green (23:39, 92nd) rounded out the top 3 for the Lady Crusaders, who ended the day with a 455 team score.
