Dallas –

The South Point men’s soccer team overcame a rocky first half to claim their 12th win of the season by knocking off North Gaston, 6-2.

North Gaston was led by Drew Stewart who scored two first-half goals, over an apparently lackluster performance by the South Point team. South Point was led by 3 goals from Kevin Haskins. Will Harbin, freshman Nate Propst, and Ryan Anderson each contributed goals in the second half.

One highlight of the evening was the entry of two sets of identical twins in the lineup. Seniors, Ryan and Devon Anderson, and the upcoming Raider torch-bearers, freshmen, Nathan and Ben Propst, played the final 18 minutes together.

North Gaston was much improved over its first encounter with the Red Raiders. Several new players have been added since the school year began, and Stewart’s second goal, a great ricocheting shot off the left upper 90 into the net,  helped pump up North Gaston’s confidence. Congratulations to the boys from Dallas for staying competitive throughout the match.

Entry filed under: Belmont, Front Porch, HS Soccer, HS Sports, Kevin Haskins, NC High School Soccer, NC Soccer Coaches Association, NC Soccer Forum, NCHSAA, NCSCA, North Gaston HS, School, Small Town, Soccer.
